‘Tis the season of giving and what better way to celebrate the holidays than by donating to animal non-profits that need our help. If you’re wanting to help out a local organization, but don’t know where to start, we’re here to help. We created a list of different Los Angeles based animal non-profits that you can donate to this season.
Guidry’s Guardian
Guidry’s Guardian Foundation is a non-profit that financially supports individuals and organizations who support fostering and adopting over buying from breeders and pet stores. All donations are used for, but not limited to adoption and foster fees, supplies, medical costs, mental and physical rehabilitation and training, and so much more. Any donation made can help save a dogs life, and place them in a loving foster or forever family.
How to donate: You can donate online at https://guidrysguardian.org/donate. If you’re a Fitdog member, you can contribute to our Santa Paws Fundraiser. Buy a paw under your dog’s name to hang on our wall and all proceeds go to Guidry’s Guardian. (Dec 1- Dec 31).
Operation Blankets of Love
It’s OBOL’s mission to improve the health of homeless animals and increase their chances for survival and adoption. They do this by donating pet food, treats, blankets, towels, pet beds, leashes, collars, harnesses, toys, and many other items and supplies to shelters, rescue groups, pets of the homeless, animal transporters, foster caretakers, wildlife sanctuaries and more. Also, they are partnered with over 100 shelters in California, 744 animal rescue groups, the American Red Cross of Los Angeles and many more local organizations.
How to donate: You can financially donate by visiting https://www.obol.info/donate/. You can also donate much needed pet items such as blankets, pet beds, towels, dog/cat food, treats, toys and more. You can view their drop-off locations here. Fitdog is a proud partner with OBOL and you can drop-off donation items at our club lobby.
Best Friends Animal Society in Los Angeles
Best Friends Animal Society in Los Angeles partners with animal rescue groups, city shelters and passionate individuals who are all dedicated to the mission of making Los Angeles a no-kill city. As part of this mission, Best Friends hosts adoption and fundraising events, runs the Best Friends Lifesaving Center in Mission Hills, and leads the NKLA (No-kill Los Angeles) initiative. Donations help save the lives of homeless dogs and cats in Los Angeles and all across the country through adoption, foster and spay/neuter programs, regional programs and more.
How to donate: You can donate directly on their website.
L.A. Love & Leashes
L.A. Love & Leashes is a partnered adoption center with Los Angeles Animal Services. They socialize and love on dogs and cats from the shelters in hopes they will find their furever home. Their adoption center provides a warm and calming environment for the animals’ true personalities to emerge and offers a less intimidating, more fun way for people to meet their new best friend. With your donation, they’re able to help save the lives of shelter pets and help them find a new home!
How to donate: You can donate online at https://www.laloveandleashes.com/donate. You can also send money to their Venmo account @LALoveLeashes.
