The American Kennel Club’s 10-step Canine Good Citizen is seen as the first step in training and lays the foundation for other AKC activities such as obedience and performance events. It is also the first step to becoming a companion or therapy dog.

Our program focuses on teaching your dog each of the 10 training skills and prepares you and your dog for the Canine Good Citizen test.

This program is for owners who would like their dog to become certified as a Canine Good Citizen or as refresher if your dog failed a portion of the test. Our trainer can help your dog overcome any hurdles.

Benefits

It’s never too late to get your dog’s obedience training underway. Here are just a few benefits of dog obedience training.

Better Management

Dog obedience training teaches basic skills that enable you to manage your dog in a positive way. Having better management means that your dog can be an active part of your life, rather than always having to stress over what to do with them in everyday situations.

Socialization

Socialization is an important aspect of a dog’s life. So by attending training, dogs are able to participate in fun group activities including hikes or daycare.

Fun & Engaging

Training is fun and stimulating for your dog. With the right program, dogs gain confidence, learn new tricks, and are more engaged.

Prevents Future Issues

Finally, training address any behavioral issues and reinforces boundaries, such as jumping or chewing. By using the right tools, you will avoid future behavioral issues.
